The Golden State is a place where people have always dreamed big.
From Spanish New World ambitions to settlers travelling west, miners rushing for gold to the fantasy of movie stardom and romance of a laid-back fun-in-the-sun image, California is a world-class weaver of dreams.
Our dream is to cruise the coast from San Francisco to San Diego. Like dreamers in the New World, we’ll follow the Spanish missionary trail, visit Alcatraz where inmates dreamed of escape and explore Sonoma where dreams are bottled in liquid gold.
We’ll visit the dream machine of Hollywood studios before checking out emerging new stars such as Los Angeles’ revitalised Broadway, new art galleries and hot new restaurants and bars eg The Huntley Hotel, Santa Monica’s chic penthouse restaurant.
One can only fantasize about staying in some of California’s iconic luxury hotels eg Sunset Tower Hotel, Beverly Wilshire, Shutters on the Beach, etc where sweet dreams are guaranteed. Heading south, we’ll hook into the SoCal lifestyle, farmers’ markets, local vineyards before hitting Palm Springs in time for the mid-century modern festival where post-modernist designs are the dreams of today’s hip generation.
